The Pom is a family friend. They are curious and playful and wonderful at obedience training. They make good watch dogs and will alert you if strangers or danger is near. They love taking short walks but can easily be exercised indoors with daily play sessions. What is the history of the Pomeranian? 

Pomeranians are essentially the miniature version of the arctic sled dog (spitz dogs: Akita, Alaskan Malamute, Swedish Elkhound). Pomeranians are a spitz bred which are decendents from wolves. Where did they come from? Their name gives it all away; they came from Pomerania! The Pomeranian is enchanting and loving, with significantly larger ancestors. Since they are too small to work as a regular sled dog, their rise in popularity over the decades is remarkable. Many queens owned Pomeranians.
